Your art is beautiful, intriging, and interesting! It is bold and opinionated. I would like to know what the fascination with eggs, nails and hammers is about, interested about how artists translate emotion and feelings into their work?!
Eggs represent the perfection and fragilness of all life. Nails represent mankind's threats to that fragile balance. The hammer is the driving force behind our human nature. For me, these objects best represent the paradox of progress. The further we advance, the more efficient and closer we get to destroying ourselves.
Incredible work!!! I love your ability to translate your sorrow, your raw emotion into such bold colors, lines and intensity. Each one has a story and you see different parts of it each time you look at it...You have inspired me. Thank you for your talent and for sharing this with us.
Love your work! It is so thought provoking and your use of bold colors and the emotion behind it is so intriguing. I just bought one of your posters of the "SAD MAN" and I have the perfect place for it in my house. Thanks....
I love it!. Your art expression goes beyond creativity, color, light and beauty. Each piece tells a story... followed by emotions. I live in Albuquerque, NM and would love to see your talent in person one day.
Cliche and derivative work??? Really?? how so? I'm very interested in this last comment. I welcome all comments and thank you all for leaving them for me to enjoy, learn and grow.
While it is obvious you have technical talent, your body of work is nothing but a regurgitation of every trite and over-used "style" there has ever been. Your work essentially boils down to someone who owns a lot of Salvador Dali books and a handful of cubist books.... and couldn't resist trying to paint them. There is nothing original here and the fact that everything is so ripped off and cliche belittles any real sincerity or honesty in the work. You are a great businessman, but that is all.
Bryan, I want to thank you for your brutally honest comments about my work. I think that I can learn a lot from you since you obviously know much more about art than me. I am basically self-taught and it's true, I'm still trying to find my very own "style". Obviously Dali and Picasso are the artists that appeal to me the most so you see their influence in a lot of my art. But I assure you that I’m not reading books on them and trying to recreate their themes and works. I do attempt to play with surrealism and cubism in a new way to visually express the emotions I feel. I admire and respect many well-known artists so their "styles" have also influenced me in some ways. But, I don't necessarily agree with your statement that my work is "cliché and ripped off". My creations come from a very personal place. Have you read my artist manifesto? I suppose the same subjects/themes have appeared in the works of other artists, but I am not consciously trying to copy or recreate the works of any other artist. Each painting has a personal story behind it. I’ll agree that the surreal/cubist style in my work is not a new discovery, but what each work represents comes from my own thoughts and experiences. I really appreciate your comments because you see my work from a much different place than I do. You can help me grow as an artist and I hope I can do the same in return.
your work is garbage, there is nothing original here at all. you rip off picasso, Dali, and several other cubist/abstract impressionists.... stop painting this emo, political crap and search deep within your shallow self for some real "contemporary" inspiration.
I really am inspired that you are a self taught artist! I think your work is bold and full of energy! I think every artist has their influences such as Picasso and Dali, etc. I don't think there is anything wrong with that. I think you are doing a good job of making those influences your own. I would someday like to buy a piece of your artwork. Keep doing what you are doing.
Thank you Christine. Everyone has their opinion of what makes "good" art or original or contemporary. When the comments start insulting me on a personal level,"my shallow self" etc., I guess it's obvious there are other motives and possibly a level of immaturity. I do feel that my work is uniquely my own in many ways, but I'm always open to other points of view. I find its the key to growth. Let me know which works you are interested in. Thanks M. Indorato
I find your work very interesting (in a good way). I'm an artist too (still in college, but working on that), so I like to think I know what I'm talking about some of the time. I really like your "Portrait of Christ with Eyes Closed" piece. Very inspiring and very much so reminding of what Christ did for us. I commend you for all the work you've done with being self-taught. I was self-taught up till I started college almost four years ago. I can honestly say I know some the difficulties that go with that at times. I do see some Dali in your work, but there’s nothing wrong with that. Good work! Keep it up!
Might I suggest you read the book Vitamin P by Phaidon Press. It is a contemporary survey of painting of the last decade. You might be humbled to find that your interpretation of "modern" is a little misleading to your Facebook fanbase.
Truthfully I try not to look at the works of other artists very often. One reason is that it gets me depressed seeing how much talent is out there and it makes me realize what a truly untrained amateur I am. The other reason is that I like to try to invent and reinvent myself, but I sometimes still get accused of "copying" the styles of others. I'm trying to find my voice, I just create from my heart, with all my heart. For me, that is what art is all about. I'm born to create, not study and analyze art.
I was going to write the words Contemporary" or "outsider" art on my Facebook ad which may better describe my works, but I didn't have the room (ran out of letter space). I appreciate your point of view and your time to write this comment. Thanks for the wish of luck, obviously I'll need it if I plan to make a good living selling my art. I have Faith though.
I think the best attribute for an artist is to have thick skin. Whether or not "they" love or hate your work it is all good. The worst case is if they feel neither. It is nice when someone compliments my work. But constructive criticism is part of the game. I take it with a grain of salt. Your work speaks for it self.I think you have spent many hours painting. So, I like you. Just keep working.
As a fellow artist, I really enjoyed your artwork! I've always held on to the idea that art is the only language everyone can understand and speak. I myself have always used my art to portray philosophies to make a difference in thinking. For that reason I really enjoy that you are using your art to communicate!
Mr. Inderato, Not that you need my advice, but don't take to heart any of the criticism from the mean-spirited, judgemental, and offensive people whose comments I read. As a self-taught artist, you certainly have the right and freedom to try on styles, see what fits, what speaks to you and your audience, for as long as you create. All people learn from other people, adopt things, and change and grow. Not everyone has to like it, and they should just move on, not throw knives. I admire your bold and stunning work and am looking forward to having at least one of your pieces adorn my home.
From one artist to another, I am in love with your artwork. I love the way you use color and light, and you always have a message to tell within that artwork. Beautiful work!!
Your advertisement says "modern art by indorato." Do you know the definition of modern art? "Modern art is a term that refers to artistic works produced during the period extending roughly from the 1860s to the 1970s, and denotes the style and philosophy of the art produced during that era." That was 40 years ago!!! The term you should be using in contemporary art. Might want to take some art history classes bro.
Definition: mod⋅ern - /ˈmɒdərn/ –adjective 1. of or pertaining to present and recent time; not ancient or remote: modern city life. 2. characteristic of present and recent time; contemporary; not antiquated or obsolete: modern viewpoints. 3. of or pertaining to the historical period following the Middle Ages: modern European history. 4. of, pertaining to, or characteristic of contemporary styles of art, literature, music, etc., that reject traditionally accepted or sanctioned forms and emphasize individual experimentation and sensibility.
It amazes me how we put everything into categories and judge others for not following the same standard script to the letter. Being an artist, I chose to use the word MODERN to describe my art on my facebook ad not only because the word CONTEMPORARY was too long, but because the word Modern actually means Contemporary. Although I'm self taught, I do realize that the establishment has already used the word MODERN to describe a period in art that has passed. It just amazes me how some of us live in a box and can't see beyond our own arrogance. Human nature never fails to amaze and inspire me.
Saying my work is very nice is a little like an insult for me. My work isn't nice, nice is so mediocre. So thanks for the compliment if Nice is the best word you can find, And if it's meant to kick me in the ass, thanks for that also. Lets just be real here

BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!
Hello from your contemporary.
NICE ARTWORK!!!
Most people are idiots, so I get the attraction - but seriously, congratulations on the massively cliche and derivative work.
